Wood used by WHW comes from a variety variety of sources.
Pallets are a good source of timber but care is needed to choose the right type which haven’t been treated with harmful chemicals. Pallets marked DB (de-barked) KD (kiln-dried), HT (Heat treated) and EPAL (European Pallet Association) are the ones used.
- With great difficulty? I have gone from thinking nobody would want to buy my stuff to being told I was charging too little.
The simple fact is, I could never charge for the amount of time and effort that goes into the, sourcing, preparation, carving and finishing products. Even a fairly simple carving could involve 8 hours work. At the National Living Wage, that would mean charging over £90, which nobody is going to pay.
All I can do is take into account how long the piece has taken and what I think people might pay.
