This relief carving is an interpretation of the iconic White Horse banner of Rohan from J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy world, and the inspiration for the name of my woodworking venture. Handcrafted from recycled wood, it features a stylised depiction of a magnificent horse with flowing mane and noble stature.
Made using only basic hand tools, this carving features an intricate interplay of raised and recessed elements, giving it a captivating depth and texture. The horse figure itself stands out in a warm, natural wood tone against a dark green, textured background. The contrast creates a visually striking and dramatic effect.
This handcrafted piece would make a wonderful addition to any Tolkien enthusiast’s collection or decor, serving as both an artistic expression and a tribute to the rich mythology of Middle-earth and in particular the epic Ride of the Rohirrim into battle at Pelennor Field (see video below, it still gives me goosebumps).
A one-of-a-kind treasure for fans of the Lord of the Rings and the Rohirrim.
